It's another rainy day in the UK and the Taxi isn't missing the hot Al Ain weather at all. In fact, I'm not missing Al Ain at all. I just wish that I could Skype my friends there but of course they're blocked from using the service. I'm just hoping that its not blocked in my next Gulf destination, as I've just invested in a wonderful Skype phone.

It works in Bahrain. I don't know about other ME countries.
I live in Al Ain, and Skype works for me. It was blocked earlier, but not anymore.
Perhaps I can send you the installer?
We could do with a list of where Skype does work.

I too live in Al Ain. The Skype program itself works, but, you're blocked from visiting Skype.com
To get around Etisalat's Internet censorship you can use this program: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Java_Anon_Proxy
where did you go Al Ain Taxi? I guess you dont have internet any more so you cant blog... you must be in the desert

in bahrain it works. You can also check out http://www.linkexpats.com (expats in the world). it can connect you with other expats like you who live in the same country. The cool thing about it is that you can contact other fellow people and post ads/ forums and things like that
Skype rocks though :) I love that thing... too bad it's blocked in Al Ain... :( Emiarates have some weired laws sometimes...
Hy, Skype works fine in Al Ain only the Skype.com Site is blocked. To get the Skype Prg. use Hotshield.
Skype works in UAE! You cannot use pc2phone, but pc2pc works like a charm
