Shamal
The Shamal's here and this year it's come early! Along with it comes the headaches, sore throats and damp dusting. And a cancelled camping trip I was looking forward t0.
Keefie, you're right. I don't think it's called a Sharqi here so I changed it to Shamal.

Hmm, never heard it called that before, but it's definitely here in Dubai right now.
So where is it called a Sharqi?
It's a south easterly wind and they're called Sharqis. The ones from the north are the Shamals. I think that any wind here is known as a Shamal.
It's driving me nuts, everything in the house is under a layer of dust despite keep all windows and doors shut and its going to be fun to clean it all up! Does anyone know when this weather is set to change?
Hope it changes soon. This weather is giving me the 'blues'.
3 days later and it is still grey outside. At least it is cooler. I kept the kids home from school today. I just couldn't deal with going out and fighting all the flooded RA's. I just want to lay in bed all day and whine.
Wish you could join me (totally mean this in a girlfriend sort of way...not a girlfriend sort of way, but a girl whose a friend......... Oh hell, never mind).

I completely understand why you didn't want to go out. Hope your day was better than mine, I spent all day trying to clean up all this sand and yet, as I type, its still on this keyboard having wiped the damn thing at least three times. I love sand when its in the friggin desert!!!
